The Private Client Practice Group at Outline Chambers is an international practice advising high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, public figures, and their families, alongside solicitors, notaries, accountants, and family offices who act for them.

The practice group handles complex, confidential cross-border matters governed by English & Wales, EU, GCC, Islamic law among other jurisdictions.

Operating from offices in London and Dubai, members advise on cross-border succession, taxation and domicile, residence and global mobility, family and matrimonial, international private client advisory, and asset protection.

Advisory Counsel — opinions, planning, and strategy — sits at the centre of the work; where matters proceed to litigation, arbitration, or tribunal, members hold the rights of audience to carry the instruction through to its conclusion.

Areas of Practice

Estates, Trusts, and Succession

Cross-border wills, trusts, probate, and succession, including the interaction of English private international law with GCC, EU, Islamic succession rules among other legal systems; the EU Succession Regulation 650/2012; forced heirship regimes; and contentious probate involving assets in more than one jurisdiction.

Tax and Domicile

UK residence and domicile under the post-non-dom Foreign Income and Gains (FIG) regime; inheritance tax planning for internationally mobile clients; capital gains advice on international asset structures; HMRC enquiries with a cross-border dimension; and tax advice on international real estate and investment structures.

International Residency and Global Mobility

Worldwide residence and mobility for high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, and public figures, including international Investment, Entrepreneur, Retirement, Employment and Digital Nomad Visa regimes as well as dual nationality across UK, EU, GCC, and other jurisdictions.

Family and Matrimonial

Cross-border divorce, financial remedy, and international child custody under the 1980 and 1996 Hague Conventions; pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements with a multi-jurisdictional dimension; jurisdiction disputes; and recognition of foreign matrimonial orders in England and Wales and most jurisdictions worldwide.

International Private Client Advisory

Cross-border advisory opinions, planning advice, and strategic guidance drawing on dual qualifications, language skills, and judicially recognised expertise across twelve jurisdictions, in Arabic, English, French, Italian, Maltese, Polish, Russian, and Spanish.

Asset Protection

Cross-border enforcement of judgments; jurisdiction in international asset disputes; freezing and disclosure orders; and matters at the intersection of private client and civil fraud law.

Many members of the practice group hold professional qualifications in more than one jurisdiction, having been called independently to the bar of each, and conduct their work in the language of each system in which they are admitted. Outline Chambers is a set of self-employed barristers regulated by the Bar Standards Board. Every instruction is handled personally by a senior member of Chambers and in absolute confidence.
