Introduction

Anastasia Medvedskaya has a broad range of experience as an international arbitration practitioner and arbitrator. Anastasia has represented and advised sovereign states and private companies in investment and commercial arbitrations, and participated in ancillary proceedings before national courts.

Notable cases involve sovereign bond disputes, international sanctions, asset expropriation, and corporate disputes across sectors such as oil & gas, telecommunications, banking, and construction. She has been involved in several high-profile arbitrations, including the defence of the Russian Federation in investment treaty arbitrations concerning expropriated assets in Crimea. She has also acted for a GCC oil and gas company in disputes involving tax changes affecting a joint venture agreement.

Anastasia has experience in public international law matters where she advised the Russian Federation in the case before the International Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights.

In addition to her expertise in international arbitration, Anastasia has experience in extradition cases and has advised on several applications before the Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files where red notices were issued by the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Her expertise extends to forensic and fraud investigations, including identifying evidence of corruption involving a French subsidiary in Russia and a French state-owned entity, as well as mediating a complex dispute over the purchase price adjustment between a major French group and an investment fund during the sale of a global silicon carbide business.

Before joining G37 Chambers, Anastasia practiced law in France, trained in the international arbitration departments of top-tier global and domestic firms, and served as a Senior Quantum Consultant in International Arbitration at Ernst & Young in Paris.

Anastasia has been actively involved in regular speaking engagements, most notably panel discussions and conferences on topics ranging from current trends in international arbitration to international responsibility of investors in Africa for human rights violations. She also publishes in journals such as the ASA Bulletin, Lexis Nexis, Jus Mundi and the Journal of the Russian Arbitration Association.
